Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A meeting was held today at the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) headquarters following a directive from the Kolkata High Court. The owners of three rooftop restaurants—Barbeque Nation, Scrapyard, and Romaania—attended along with officials from the police, excise, fire department, and KMC. The discussion focused on verifying the legal licenses and permits held by these establishments.
The restaurant owners confirmed they possess all necessary licenses, including police, fire safety, excise, food safety, and trade licenses. However, it was established that none of the three restaurants currently have a building No Objection Certificate (NOC), which is required for lawful operation of the premises.
The next hearing is scheduled for June 11, during which the owners must present all relevant documents, including the building NOCs. The committee will prepare a report on the findings from the hearing, which must be submitted to the Kolkata High Court.
